A beer once favoured by Chester tipplers of by-gone centuries, unearthed at the Cheshire Record Office where archivists traced its recipe in the weighty records of the city’s former Northgate Brewery. A record dated 1902 made it possible to derive the original recipes by blending a selection of modern grains to reproduce the characteristics of the original malts. Northgate Ale is the resulting 'middle-amber bitter' with a strong malt profile producing a deep golden colour, whilst British hops deliver floral slightly fruity notes and aromas.
