Ten years later we think it high time that this fine, strong, amber ale is rescued from the deep to feature in our 2024 cask aged list. Our take on a German style altbier which is German for old beer. It is fermented at a moderate temperature using a top-fermenting yeast which gives its flavour some fruitiness. Because Altbier is then matured at a cooler temperature, its flavour is more akin to lager beer styles than is the norm for top-fermented beers, such as British pale ale. Brewed as part of Dave's Heritage range and for the Euro's in Germany.
